"As an undergraduate student at Boston College I was fortunate enough to have the life-altering experience of traveling to Kingston, Jamaica for a service/immersion trip. It was here that I made the decision to stop focusing my energy and studies on a marketing/advertising career, and to move into the direction of social services.
Since then I have had the opportunity to work in a variety of settings with children, adolescents, and families providing emotional/behavioral support and interventions, educational advocacy, care coordination, access to resources and information, crisis management, and individual and group therapy.
I am extremely motivated by the idea of helping others to reach their potential and achieve success and life balance in every aspect of their life!"
Kali Downer MSW, LCSW School/Work Experience · Graduated from New York University with a Masters in Social Work, 2008 · Worked at Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children as an Intensive Care Coordinator (Served as Wraparound team facilitator and provided coordination of behavioral and mental health services for children and families) · Educational Liaison and advocate for youth living in the foster care system in San Diego. Taught financial literacy course to youth aging out of the foster care system. · 7+ years of providing emotional, behavioral, and therapeutic interventions and support to children, adolescents, and adults dealing with AD/HD and a variety of other mental health diagnoses.
Fun Facts
· I ran the Boston Marathon for Horizons for Homeless Children and the New York City Marathon for Fred’s Team (Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center) as a fundraising team member
· I have volunteered and participated in service/immersion trips to Natchez, MS, Alderson, WV, and Kingston, Jamaica
· I studied abroad in Cape Town, South Africa and had the amazing opportunity to visit Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, and Victoria Falls · I love my dog, Marcie. SO much.
